Bugsy Malone bits.

music: Bugsy Malone - Bad Guys
Lately, I've had a mysterious inclination toward the music from Bugsy Malone. Some of it is impressively catchy, even though it's a bizarre premise -- gangsters, speakeasies, chorus girls... and they're all played by children! But of course! (I was in the show when I was in seventh grade.)
A few more, because I can:
"Down and Out." Ever so catchy.
"My Name is Tallulah", with a minuscule Jodie Foster. I find this one of the most incongruous numbers in the film, what with the discordance between sterilized themes and the reality they're based in. Here you have child actors sultrily singing (er, lipsynching), "Lonely, you don't have to be lonely. Come and see Tallulah, we can chase your troubles away." So - 'tis very odd, but not a horrific song despite that.
"So You Wanna Be A Boxer." Also very catchy. Also peculiar to see it acted by children.
I shall stop now, and go hum to myself.

music: Cheryl Wheeler - Your God
Last night, I saw Cheryl Wheeler at the Freight & Salvage. She was, as usual, fantastic. Here's a video I took of her song/rant about the radical religious right (pick a sect), "Your God":

One of my favorite flashmob efforts in quite a while:
And a caption that makes me exceedingly happy:

That's all.
(As an aside, it is impossible for me to hear or read the phrase "that's all" without hearing it in the dismissive voice that Meryl Streep uses in The Devil Wears Prada. Just so you know.)

This makes me so many kinds of happy. It even includes a bit of linguistics!
Partly unsafe for work, due to language and innuendo. But nothing too horrific.

- 23:53 "To love, is a woman's duty - to be beloved, is her reward." Ahh, 19th-century ideologies.
